Lara’s Story

One word to describe her: Resilient.

Lara is a creative through and through.  She loves to read and write, plays piano, and is very involved in theatre. In addition to her creativity, Lara is filled with compassion.  At this point in her life, Lara would like to have a career in clinical psychology, supporting encouraging those who are struggling with anxiety.

For Lara and her family, inclusion means including, supporting, and being committed to those whose needs or ideas are different, and perhaps, even challenging.  She and her family have felt empowered by the outpouring of encouragement from those in their circles, and are often told that Lara’s resilient attitude is inspiring.  Although our society is not yet a place where we naturally consider how to include those who need special consideration, Lara and her family are so thankful for all of the special people who try to make experiences count for all kids, regardless of ability.

Lara felt true empowerment from being center stage and under a spotlight when she played the lead role in the Little Princess.  Despite pain from so much movement during the two hour play, Lara persevered thanks to her own personal resilience and commitment from the rest of the cast and crew.

All the world’s a stage, and Lara is a shining star.
